Open Borders for Thee but Not for Me!
Hypocrisy is a feature, not a bug, of Leftist ideology: they flout the rules they create for you, to show you how insignificant you are compared to them.
For the past several years, America’s working class have been demanding that something be done about our open borders. The elites have responded with handwaving about America being a nation of immigrants, conflating legal and illegal immigration, and slandering anyone who supports restrictions on immigration as being irredeemably white supremacist — even though it’s not just whites who oppose illegal immigration.
The elites allege humanitarian motivation and try to frame any debate about border policies in strictly moral terms. “Look at these poor, huddled masses, yearning to breath free,” they say. “How can you deny them the opportunity to come to our great country and make a better life for themselves? What kind of selfish, evil, racist, xenophobic Nazi are you?”
Of course, you should always be skeptical of anyone who professes deep and abiding concern for the well-being of distant others, while practicing cruelty and callous snobbery towards those nearby. You will notice that these same elites, who care so much about migrants from outside the USA, speak with open disdain and malice about their fellow Americans who are living in decaying communities ravaged by job losses, opioid addiction, and despair. “A basket of deplorables,” is how Hillary Clinton referred to them, while Barack Obama said that the working poor “get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
That’s right, Barry, it’s just that regular Americans are stupid and lazy and looking to blame someone else for their self-created problems . . . oh wait, did some career criminal get shot by the police, mid crime-spree, while trying to wrestle an officer and get control of his gun? Well, let’s have a national day of burning, looting, and murdering to celebrate his blessed memory!
Obviously, the dilution of the labor market with 30 millions illegal immigrants willing to work under the table, without legal protections, for lower wages than their native-born coworkers, resulting in massive job losses and diminished wages for the native-born, obviously that could not have had anything to do with people demanding restrictions on immigration.
