I stumbled onto a chat somewhere recently here on Substack where a whole bunch of 'outraged' and 'sickened' folks were sharing and organizing a letter writing or messaging campaign to the Substack heads in order to demand something be done. They were all referencing the Katz article. They also had lists made of offending 'Nazi' Stacks. I had two thoughts. These people are hysterical, one, and two, even if those named Stacks had some truly awful content (probably not illegal, though), they sure weren't a problem for me, or anyone else here who cultivates their own community. It's not like any Nazis are reading and trying to disrupt my poetry writing. That's why I like it here. It's somewhat like the real world. I know there are crazies in it, but as long as they are ignored and kept to the margins, I can live in it. What these activist types want to do is actually the opposite, to draw everyone's attention to the crazies in order to destroy the platform for everyone else. It's not the crazies they are really after, it's just those they disagree with on any number of issues. They weaponize the worst, who have no actual purchase on the vast majority of normal people, to get at the moderates who do.

Exactly. It's a Motte-and-Bailey stealth attack on anti-communists who ask questions and point out anomalies about things we're not supposed to notice. But when pressed, they'll point to the handful of actual nazis and act like that's what everyone is supporting, when (for example) we all remember people getting censored in the past three years for questioning public health officials who were later shown to have outright lied in order to seize power and enrich themselves and their friends. Jonathan Katz and Marisa Kabas are either too stupid and ignorant to know this, in which case they should not be listened to as experts on any subject, or they know what they are doing, in which case they are truly evil on the same level as a demon straight from the pit of hell and should be treated accordingly.

Yes, motte and bailey! Thanks for reminding me of that.

Thanks for saying what I am thinking. These people who do not like free speech have just shown up on substack all of a sudden.

I think they were always here, but minding their own business like normal people, until they were alerted and called to action.

I know what a Nazi is, my Dad fought them in North Africa and in Italy. What do they really mean when they use the word Nazi in 2023? Is it everyone who does not like Biden’s policies a Nazi in their opinion? Getting too old 😢

Especially when they stand with Ukraine Nazis (Azov Bn) and give nazi veterans standing ovations in Canada's parliament, after smearing the multi-ethnic and completely peaceful trucker convoy protesters as "nazis" because they opposed vaxx mandates. It's all too absurd.

These marionettes think they are the smartest people in America, more evolutionary advanced than anyone who has ever lived. But all they really are is mediocre apologists for pederasts.

Exactly. Their view of themselves and the world is only possible in the context of a very selective ignorance of history. Like focus on the evils of Reactionary movements in 1920s-30s Europe, but completely ignore the heinous crimes of the Bolshevik movements to which those Reactionary movements were a natural reaction. So now that people see the same playbook being used in America as was used in 1920s Europe (or 1910s Russia), they're starting to examine the regime-approved mythology around that era, and that has some Bolsheviks worried. And the crazy thing is, that as they escalate their Bolshevik tactics and aggression, it will only serve to make more people start asking those questions, so their entire project is self defeating. We could have a functioning society that avoids the opposing vices of communism and fascism, but the communists (like Jonathan Katz and Marisa Kabas) just cannot help themselves. They will push America towards the very fascism they claim to oppose. If they really want to fight fascism, they would stop trying to push their Bolshevism on America.

I love how assholes like Katz call their fervent rooting around for, and broadcasting, reasons to ban free speech as "reporting." That's called "bitching," and is the analogue of someone plumbing Substack for excessive anti-Muslim, anti-transter, or anti-Christian content and then calling whatever he turned up "a glut" of the forbidden content in question.

If he doesn't like Swastikas or other things that hurt his Jewy feelings on Substack, he should probably not visit them. Between people like him, Bari Weiss, Dave Rubin, etc., I'm discovering just how bloated a sense of entitlement (including the right to murder "goyim") some of these American Zionist Jews are.

But that will never happen because these assholes simply don't think that way. They use "hate speech" as a crude flamethrower against 1A and go full-bore hypocrite.

Interestingly, they either can't see this or really think the rest of the world is the party operating in uninformed and otherwise bad faith.

Yeah, it's amazing what the "back button" on a browser will do if you find yourself on a blog whose content you don't like.

Interesting to note, these types who want to ban everyone from questioning narratives in a way they don't like by labeling them "antisemitic" also tend to go after Jews who question the narratives in ways they don't like (Chaya Raichik, Mike Benz, Bret Weinstein, etc). Turns out, these pro-censorship commies don't actually mean any of it. It's all a smokescreen for their primal will to power, dressed up in all this politically-correct moralizing.

The anti-woke crowd now behaves exactly like the conformunists--- by mindlessly regurgitating Ben Shapiro's doctrine. I joined substack because I thought I had found like-minded people who could civilly share ideas---even ones they disagree with. Until Oct. 7. No more. Writers whose intelligence I once respected are now

"Ben-Shapiro-Woke" They still operate like a cult. Any criticism of Netanyahu's actions is hysterically labeled as "anti-semitic hate!!!" Even to the point of insisting that there is no genocide at all, and if there were (which there isn't, of course), those "subhuman animals" deserve it. I just got banned from a mutual substack for a comment sympathetic to Gazans, and after being silenced, the other commenters all ganged up with presumptive accusations about my motives---from DARVO, to "hate". Any sympathy for Palestinians is equated with "woke" now. The unquestioning cult obedience and regurgitation of Ben Shapiro's doctrine surprised me at first, but knowing that a lot of these people are Ex- Woke helps me to understand that their thought processes haven't changed, they just latched onto the opposing viewpoints with the same level of unthinking obedience. So stupid.

Israelis vs Palestinians has definitely caused some fracturing of coalitions and infighting on both the Left and the Right, in some fascinating ways. Some folks on the Right have acted like cancel-culture warriors, and some folks on the Left went from wanting to punch a Nazi to acting like Nazis themselves. I'm just reminded that there are a lot of folks who claim to value Truth and Justice and so forth, but most are really only interested in Power and will use moral language, when convenient, to get it for themselves and their "team."

That said, my own position: I am 100% against both AIPAC and Hamas. Not my circus, not my monkeys. American lives and resources should be spent on America, not Israel or Palestine. Both sides of that conflict are eager to manipulate and use America for their own advantage, and to our detriment. Nothing is unique about that: it's true of pretty much every major conflict that both parties seek to use their "allies" to their own advantage. The onus is on us not to drawn into it. Unfortunately, both the Palestinians and the Israelis have more influence and representation in America's government than Americans do. *That* is what Americans should be outraged over.

I specifically stated that I hate Hamas in the comment you're replying to. I did not condemn the IDF. But you still demand that I weigh in and take a side on a foreign conflict when my own country is being overrun with military-age illegal alien males. Where are the Israelis or Palestinians speaking out about these things that concern me as an American? So no, I stand by what I said earlier about Israel vs the Palestinians: not my circus, not my monkeys. I don't owe either side of that conflict a damn thing.

But both of them went into cancel-culture mode over criticism of Israel after October 7th. I understand the visceral desire to punish enemies -- we experienced that in the USA after 9/11, but look how it was used to manipulate is into a series of foreign policy blunders, and I think you can see the value of allowing everyone, including your critics, to speak freely. You can tune it out if it offends you, and obviously, allowing someone to speak is entirely distinct from endorsing whatever their views happen to be.

I feel that way too about a lot of things these past few years. Too many people eager to promote the exact same fake and ghey agenda in the exact same way and at the exact same time, and they change their messaging on a dime, in unison, depending on the new current thing. Feels very astroturfed.

It's creepy, that's what it is.

How does anyone really believe these fake-ass hall monitors. When they all use the same language, it couldn't be more obvious that they are being directed.

Limbaugh used to play those clips of 20 or so "news" outlets all parroting the exact same wording. Over and over, literally using the exact same wording on some issues. They were using poll tested terminology designed to trigger the desired respose.

Real people with real concerns don't talk that way.

They ignored Social Media for Facebook and MySpace etc. And now the substack, the Telegraph, the Twitter / X are huge challenges for them. There must be NO dissent from their reality. NO competing ideas. We are one. We are unity. We are the BORG and you will be assimilated!

I’ve decided “AWFuLs and AWFuL adjacents” are the problem. Spend your days endlessly looking for “problems” and “outrages” (that aren’t yours most of the time, e.g. - systemic racism, transphobia, et al.) and you come up with some really shitty ideas, like these twits. Let’s talk truth here: American Nazis are not the problem! There are like, twenty of them and they don’t dog whistle on Substack, they will flat out show and tell you they’re Nazis. These morons see Nazism everywhere; Trump supporter = Nazi, nuanced opinion on Israel/Palestine conflict = Nazi, etc.

Exactly. And the only thing that could realistically push a First-World population to embrace actual nazism would be for a serious Maoist cultural revolution to destabilize the country and place its citizens in sufficient fear first. Of course, that's exactly what the Jonathan Katz's of the world are all about: pushing a Maoist cultural revolution.

Unfortunately I am still banned from X (Twitter), for reasons that have never been fully explained or justified... but that, though related, is a different story. My point is that Substack is my only online social venue... and as long as Substack remains a social venue where free-speech reigns supreme I will continue to read, comment and share the mind-styles, and ideas of those that seek to expose the corruption that has become so pervasive in our society... and I will continue to ignore those whose voices demand otherwise... and to hell with the cabal of commie Karens.

It's all astroturfed psyops, but not very competently or creatively executed. Sadly, a large number of people are dumb enough to fall for it, but a critical mass of people seem to be waking up -- and once you see it, you cannot un-see it.

Bingo. But these control types (mostly sadly liberals) have a glaring problem/issue. They cannot, cannot cannot allow others to divert disagree from their viewpoints. They must must have CONTROL. I just don't know where this psych comes from, but these are deeply flawed people with no actual beliefs that are core for themselves. Because all they care about is 'doing what the herd says to do'...'thinking what the herd thinks' ... and for the life of me, I can't understand that. I do what I do, I think about it, I read both sides, and I often say if it make you happy ok, but leave me alone. They are not capable of saying that 'you do you, I'll do me'. Baffles me every time.

Whenever a member of the establishment, or paid establishment shill, says our "democracy" is in danger, it means that the oligarchy of which they are a part is being challenged. Whenever a liberal decries "hate speech," it just means that THEY hate hearing any speech that THEY find disagreeable, or worse, makes THEM feel uncomfortable. It has nothing to do with the actual subjects of the alleged hate speech.

Free speech is the right from which all other rights flow. Take away free speech, and you lose all your other freedoms as well. This is what these self-appointed guardians of morality and decency want to do, as such people have always done.

The First Amendment was passed and ratified for many good reasons and has stood the test of time. One of those good reasons is protection for the rest of us from sanctimonious censors like Katz.
