The dynamics of a love/hate relationship with social media ... How do we get more of the good, and less of the bad, online? (And how can we properly ridicule the ugly?)
Terrific show and great analogy about TV vis-a-vis fire. The difference is, if I visit someone and they build a fire, I'll stick around for a while, but if they flick on the boob tube, I'll be plotting my escape ASAP.
I found myself disturbed years ago when several very progressive friends cut off contact with me (for fairly weak and pedestrian reasons I must say).
Their ideology cannot compete and so it runs from debates or tries to label all alternative thought some kind of immoral (racist, sexist, etc.). I think we're seeing the effects of that kind of strategy right now. The Left is losing ground. You must talk to people to shift their views-you can't just hide in your institutions and echo chambers.
