The majority of the people from India living in the US has at least (the equivalent to) a Bachelors degree, otherwise they could not get a (non-immigrant) H-1B work-visa allowing them to work and live here. Indians here on a student-visa will continue till they have a Masters degree, as that gives a better chance to be lucky in the yearly H-1B lottery.

People from Europe hardly come on an H-1B visa anymore because H-1B means you have to sacrifice the life of their wife. These workers now come on L-1 visas.

So yes, a highly educated group, allowed in the US because of their ability to work in high(er) level jobs, will outperform the average USer when it comes to income.

I don't begrudge them their success. But their success does seem to serve as a counterpoint to the idea that America is so deeply and systemically white supremacist. I mean, when America did have actual white supremacists in charge of her institutions, they weren't giving hard-working and capable brown-skinned foreigners the opportunity to immigrate and outperform whites in middle-class professions. If America was truly so systemically racist and white supremacist, that wouldn't be happening today, either. The fact that it is happening refutes the claim that America is systemically racist and white supremacist.

Apparently you did not get what I tried to explain. If you select/limit immigrants from a certain country to only well-educated individuals allowed in for certain high-level better-paid jobs, you create an anomaly in your population. Keep them out of your statistics re. income etc. (Loss of that job usually means the worker and his family have to leave the US, consequently they will never be on welfare.)

P.S. You are not giving "brown-skinned foreigners" an opportunity. You need these workers to keep the US competitive.

Dude, I get what you're saying, and I'm trying to figure out how you think it's relevant to the point of the essay that you commented on. I used the undeniable success of brown-skinned immigrants to call into question the idea that America is literally white supremacist, as so many on the Left claim, with zero present-day evidence. If true white supremacists were leading America and its institutions, they would not permit brown-skinned foreigners to (1) become citizens in the first place -- I realize some such as you may not be citizens, but many are -- or (2) enjoy a much higher standard of living than native-born whites. The fact that they do shows they are not actual white supremacists.

Again, this group should NOT be in the statistics. If the US had an unrestricted immigration policy, yes. But it does not ! The higher incomes of certain Indians living and working here does NOT help prove the point the essay tries to make. Au contraire.

Any idea how long the "brown skinned" immigrants have to wait for a Green Card ? 12-20 years. That's because of the per country limits. Luxembourg is a country and so is India, and China, for that matter. (The citizenship you talk about takes another 5 years after that.)

Any idea what the wives of those "brown skinned" immigrants and those with a similar visa, have to forfeit ? Their life: their ability to work, to earn money, to build Soc. Sec. rights, to have a career. They see their lives leak away one day at a time. If that is not evidence of the US male white supremacist tendencies, I do not know what is. (Although these policies are much endorsed by female Dem politicians.)

So the USA is "male white supremacist" because it's not easy for foreigners to get work visas and obtain citizenship? Because immigrants have to make -- gasp! -- sacrifices to get those things? Oh, you poor baby. Why don't you try immigrating to a nice, welcoming, heterogenous and diverse country like Japan? Someplace safe from all those white meanies in America who oppress the black and brown people of the world so atrociously by having -- [clutches chest and groans as if having a heart attack] -- requirements for people to immigrate legally (requirements that are openly flouted by black and brown people coming through our Southern border, but ho hum). I'll bet if you go to Japan, they'll just ask you if you think Japan is an alright place, and if you say "Yes," they let you stay and work and earn whatever you want, because they're not "male white supremacist" the way America is, right?

You did not get any of the points I was trying to make. Does not matter, I did not expect you to. Especially the particularities of the H-4 visa are hard to understand for those who are not forced to live it. Have a nice day and keep up the writing/moaning/clutching.

P.S. How do I unsubscribe ? Other Substackers give that option, but you do not ?
