The United States has the world's second highest Jewish population and Jews tend to be well off and politically active. It doesn't take a conspiracy theory to explain why politicians court the Jewish vote.

The Woketards have noticed that Jews are Whiter than Palestinians. Deep pocketed Jewish donors are noticing. This is a straight up political opportunity.

Furthermore, Christian Zionists have been part of the Republican coalition for at least half a century. Back when I was in high school the biggest conservative voice on television was Pat Robertson of the 700 Club. His cheerleading of Israeli military actions were cringeworthy back when Carter was President.

By all means complain when Trump does something stupid. The furor over H1-B visas was the proper response. Overdosing on Black Pills is not.

Maybe that's the overriding consideration for the Trump Administration: political expediency and securing the support of an influential demographic. In that case, it's important to play the political game and raise loud objections to the Gaza proposal, as with the H1B visa controversy as you noted. I personally think Netanyahu is a psychopath who would happily sacrifice (and has sacrificed) his own people to advance his interests (and the interests of his backers), so I am alarmed whenever I see Trump partnering with him. Trump and Jared Kushner and a few wealthy Americans may get a lucrative cut, but this would be a terrible deal for the American people to commit to a "peacekeeping" mission in Gaza.

The US has reacted similarly to Indian massacres back in the day.

However, I definitely do not want the US to be taking over Gaza. Protest away!.

I think we should recognize that ALL (groups of) people these days tend to try to leverage victimhood, engage in self-pity, and generally abjure the projection of strength and self-assurance.

We've become a very weak people... and the groups that regain their strength will be hated and attacked by the others but will also enjoy a great deal of admiration and regard from others.

We all have a lot of improving to do, I think.

How many billions and billions and billions do we spend on aid for Israel and Egypt? Won't finally putting Gaza on a secure footing be in our best interests long term?

Why are we spending anything on aid for Israel or Egypt? It's like a family that is behind on their mortgage and delinquent on a dozen maxed-out credit cards paying for a private security guard to watch over some random guy's vacation home on a third-world beach. "Well, since you're already paying for a private security guard, why don't you just save your money and send your son over here to guard the vacation home?" Or -- why don't we just tell Israel and Egypt to provide their own security and deal with Gaza themselves.

Agree with you that our spendthrift ways must end. I read the other day that the US borrows money at the rate of $10 billion a day to service our national debt. $10 billion a day in new debt!
